Welcome to the 29th edition of Our Shot, a weekly newsletter of actions that anyone (especially kids) can take to resist the Trump administration.
First action:
The Trump administration has just announced more detailed plans to dismantle the Department of Education, transferring responsibilities of DOE programs to other federal agencies.
Call your representatives and ask them to strongly oppose these efforts. You can find your representatives info and a script for your call at https://5calls.org/issue/education-department-hr899/.
Second action:
Leo and his brothers are organizing a drive for items for hygiene kits for VPI, a Boston-based organization helping individuals and families in crisis.
The items most needed by VPI's clients: deodorant, body wipes, socks, underwear (men's and women's, all sizes), toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion.
If you are interested in supporting this effort, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to contribute!
- If you are within 10 miles of Watertown, we are happy to pick items up from your house!
- Order items to be delivered to our house (email for address details)
- Venmo Charlotte - include "hygiene kit drive" in your note - and we will put the funds toward a bulk purchase of items (email for Venmo info)
The drive will run from now through December 1- we appreciate your support!
