Our Shot: June 18, 2025

Welcome to the tenth edition of Our Shot, a weekly newsletter of actions that anyone (especially kids) can take to resist the Trump administration.

Smaller action: Listen to podcasts that celebrate Pride, share messages of love and family, and educate listeners. We have a few (some new, some older) recommendations below, but would love to hear from you as well.

Circle Round: Three Clever Brothers featuring Alexandra Billings, one of the first openly transgender women to play a transgender character on television.

StoryCorps: StoryCorps has put together a compilation of stories from LGBTQ+ people, including a few at the link below that feature the voices of children and young people.

LGBTQ+ Voices to Honor This Pride Month - StoryCorps
We’re celebrating Pride Month by lifting up the stories of LGBTQ+ history-makers.

Pablo Torre Finds Out: The Fake Sports Scandal Taking Over Fox News - this is more targeted at adults and a little bit niche, but it's a fascinating deep-dive into the narrative around transgender athletes and the way reporting can get warped into scandal that is deeply harmful to transgender athletes:

Larger action: Support an LGBTQ+ owned business near you!

While you may see Pride flags and language popping up at large corporations in the month of June, these messages are often using social causes for profit, and can disappear on July 1. Use your spending power to support local, queer-owned businesses this month - and share your favorites with us so we can spread the word!

Do you have any ideas for actions people can take? Have you taken an action of resistance that you would like to share? Please email ctsvirsky@gmail.com to let us know - we would love to hear from you!

We are not throwing away our shot!
