Our Shot: May 14, 2025
Welcome to the sixth edition of Our Shot, a weekly newsletter of actions that anyone (especially kids) can take to resist the Trump administration.
Smaller action: Research, save, and share immigration hotline information for your city or state. As the Trump administration continues to target immigrants with ICE arrests and raids, these hotlines are an important tool to report raids or seek help.
In Massachusetts you can call the LUCE hotline.

If you are in or near Watertown and would like to help get the word out about the LUCE hotline, you can sign up here to canvass on Sunday May 18.
Larger action: Write a letter to Rumeysa Öztürk, the graduate student who was detained by ICE on March 25, 2025, and spent the last 6 weeks in a detention facility in Louisiana. A judge ordered her release last week, and she returned to Boston this past Saturday to continue her graduate studies at Tufts.
Take this opportunity to learn about Rumeysa Öztürk - her unjust detention, her important research, and her bravery in returning to her education. You can write to her to share messages of support by sending a letter to her c/o the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development, 105 College Avenue, School of Arts and Sciences, Tufts University, Medford, MA, 02155.
Photos: We made Venezuelan arepas (they were delicious - recipe here!) and volunteered with the Watertown Rapid Response network to share information about the LUCE hotline in Massachusetts.

Do you have any ideas for actions people can take? Have you taken an action of resistance that you would like to share? Please email ctsvirsky@gmail.com to let us know - we would love to hear from you!
