Our Shot: May 21, 2025
Welcome to the seventh edition of Our Shot, a weekly newsletter of actions that anyone (especially kids) can take to resist the Trump administration.
Smaller action: In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, and in order to maintain the energy and bandwidth needed in these exhausting times, our smaller action this week comes straight from Leo: spend time outside!
Whether that means sitting in the sunshine, taking a walk, or reenacting Zelda battles with your brothers (just as an example...) - take care of yourself so that we can continue to take care of each other ♥
Larger action: The Trump administration continues to cancel federal funding that aimed to provide local healthy food to children and food banks. Donate non-perishable food items to your local food pantry - items that are often needed by food banks include peanut butter, canned soup, canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, cereal, coffee or tea, and nonperishable snacks like granola bars.
Photos: Team Our Shot at NAMI Walks Massachusetts! With your support, we were able to meet our team fundraising goal of $250 raised for NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness). It was inspiring to be part of the NAMI community and to walk in support of the important work they do, especially in light of Trump administration funding cuts. And as a bonus - lots of people brought their dogs to walk too!

Do you have any ideas for actions people can take? Have you taken an action of resistance that you would like to share? Please email ctsvirsky@gmail.com to let us know - we would love to hear from you!
We are not throwing away our shot!
